Campus life in Malaysia moved fast, but the digital infrastructure behind it didn’t. Students, universities, and authorities were all dealing with fragmented tools and cash-heavy processes that made the entire experience feel outdated.

The Process
To build a national student platform, we began by studying campus life up close — how students paid, where friction occurred, and how universities managed day-to-day transactions. These insights helped us define what a unified student wallet and lifestyle ecosystem needed to look like for Malaysia.
Leveraging our capabilities in payments, integration, and experience design, we translated these needs into a cohesive product strategy. With close coordination across universities, merchants, and payment partners, we delivered a scalable SuperApp that streamlines spending, connects services, and supports every stage of student life.
The Solution
PayNest delivered a unified digital ecosystem that brings campus life, payments, and student services into one national platform. Built for scale and designed around the realities of student life, the Gradu8 SuperApp simplifies everything from daily spending to financial education — giving students a modern, cashless, and rewarding digital experience.
Smart Wallet
A secure, interoperable e-wallet powers all on-campus and off-campus payments. Students can top up through multiple channels, pay university fees, and manage day-to-day spending without relying on cash.
Cards & Payments
Students can issue virtual or physical Mastercard-enabled cards for online shopping, lifestyle spending, and global acceptance. QR Scan & Pay and contactless merchant integrations ensure smooth payments across campus and at partner merchants.
Rewards Hub
Gradu8 includes a dedicated rewards ecosystem featuring student-centric discounts, curated merchant offers, and Mastercard Priceless experiences. Every transaction earns points that students can redeem instantly.
Financial Tools
The app supports financial literacy with budgeting tools, spend tracking, tutorials, and step-by-step guides on planning and savings. Students get clear insights into their habits, helping them build healthier financial behaviours during their university years.
Merchant Ecosystem
A campus-wide and nationwide merchant network enables QR-based and contactless payments. Merchants use simple dashboards to manage listings, track redemptions, and monitor performance — improving visibility and reducing reliance on cash.

Gradu8 integrates university credentials, ID verification, and upcoming services such as bill management and help-and-support features. This foundation allows future modules to plug in seamlessly as the ecosystem expands.
